Have you purchased your turkey yet?\u00a0If you have never roasted a turkey before, you will want to check on how long the turkey needs to thaw before roasting. It can take a lot longer than one might think. Check with the National Turkey Federation for tips on buying, thawing and roasting a turkey. The website even has recipes for all the turkey that is leftover.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Below is a recipe from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eatturkey.com\">National Turkey Federation<\/a> for Wine Country Roasted Turkey and as might be expected, the recipe calls for ros\u00e9 wine.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Enjoy!<br \/>\nKathy<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Wine Country Roasted Turkey<\/strong><br \/>\nHoneysuckle White<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><em>Ingredients<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>WHOLE TURKEY, fresh or thawed if frozen: 1 &#8211; 12 to 15 pound<br \/>\ncelery, cut in half: 2 Stalks<br \/>\nonion, cut in quarters: 1 Small to Medium<br \/>\nros\u00e9 wine, divided: 1 Cup<br \/>\nunsalted butter, divided: 1\/2 Cup<br \/>\norange juice: 1\/4 Cup<br \/>\nlemon juice: 1 Tablespoon<br \/>\nseasoned salt: 1 Teaspoon<br \/>\nground paprika: 1\/2 Teaspoon<br \/>\nonion powder: 1\/4 Teaspoon<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Directions<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Wash turkey in cool water and pat dry with clean paper towels. Place on a V-shaped rack in a shallow (2 to 3-inches deep) roasting pan.<\/p>\n<p>2. Place celery, onion and 1\/2 cup wine in body cavity. Sprinkle body cavity with salt and pepper.<\/p>\n<p>3. Using twine, tie legs together over cavity. Tuck wings under or skewer against sides of bird. Brush bird with 1\/4 cup melted butter.<\/p>\n<p>4. Insert food thermometer in inner thigh.<\/p>\n<p>5. Roast uncovered, breast side up, in the preheated 325 degrees F oven for 1 hour.<\/p>\n<p>6. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine remaining melted butter and wine with orange and lemon juices, seasoned salt, paprika and onion powder. Use to baste turkey frequently during remaining roasting time &#8211; about 2 to 3 hours.<\/p>\n<p>7. Roasting time varies so be sure to use the food thermometer and roast until the internal temperature of the inner thigh reaches 175 degrees F. If the turkey begins to brown too early, cover breast and top of drumsticks loosely with aluminum foil.<\/p>\n<p>8.
