Perhaps one of my favorite recipes for Presidents Day is the Handmade Cherry Pie<\/a>. The recipe, using a little red wine, was provided by the Northwest Cherry Growers and is available online.<\/p>\n

The Northwest Cherry Growers\u00a0website has numerous recipes with a few that use wine as an ingredient. Another delicious sounding recipe that I can’t wait to try is the Grilled Salmon Cherry Sauce that calls for a half cup of white wine.<\/p>\n

Grilled Salmon Cherry Sauce<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ingredients<\/em><\/div>\n

\n

3 cups pitted Northwest fresh sweet cherries
\n1\/2 cup water
\n1\/2 cup dry white wine
\n1\/4 cup chopped onion
\n1 clove garlic, finely chopped
\n2 tablespoons honey
\n2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
\n1 teaspoon freshly grated lemon peel
\n1\/2 teaspoon salt
\n1\/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

In large saucepan, combine all ingredients; bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, 30 minutes or until mixture thickens, stirring frequently. Serve over grilled salmon.<\/p>\n
