{"id":14900,"date":"2018-01-03T13:35:42","date_gmt":"2018-01-03T18:35:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/winetrailtraveler.com\/blog\/?p=14900"},"modified":"2018-01-03T13:35:42","modified_gmt":"2018-01-03T18:35:42","slug":"a-wine-from-campania-italy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/winetrailtraveler.com\/blog\/2018\/01\/03\/a-wine-from-campania-italy\/","title":{"rendered":"A Wine from Campania, Italy"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_14902\" style=\"width: 235px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14902\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-14902\" src=\"http:\/\/winetrailtraveler.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/010318a-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/winetrailtraveler.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/010318a-225x300.jpg 225w, http:\/\/winetrailtraveler.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/010318a.jpg 378w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-14902\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Campi Flegrei Falanghina 2016<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Last night we made our first visit to the <a href=\"http:\/\/faccirestaurant.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Facci Restaurant<\/a> in Laurel, Maryland and discovered the restaurant to be warm in appearance and feel, especially considering the extensive cold weather the East Coast has been experiencing.<\/p>\n<p>We were meeting with a group of about 30 members of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thevillageinhoward.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Village in Howard<\/a> which is part of the extensive <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vtvnetwork.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Village to Village Network<\/a> located in many areas of the United States and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>Outside and at the front\u00a0 of the restaurant several tables and place settings were set. Laughing in the bitter cold, Terry commented, \u201cHope we are not meeting out here tonight.\u201d However, the nicely setup area added to the lovely experience we expected as we opened a door for the bar area and table seating beyond. At the far end of this area, the back wall is filled with an impressive display of wine bottles.<\/p>\n<p>After picking up name tags and greeting many of our friends, we sat down to order wine and appetizers. Facci\u2019s Happy Hour includes half price appetizers, $1 off cocktails and half price bottles of wine.<\/p>\n<p>Terry noticed an Italian wine from the Campania region. This was a produced with a wine variety that we remembered from our trip to Campania a few years ago. (Read our online <a href=\"http:\/\/winetrailtraveler.com\/italy\/italy.php\">reviews<\/a> of Campania.)It is not easy to discover a Falanghina wine, so we were pleased to see it on the Facci menu. The Campi Flegrei Falanghina 2016, with 12% alcohol, was a yellow to light gold color, giving the wine a particular elegance. The aroma was of floral and apricot notes. The dry, crisp taste was creamy, with notes of apricots, citrus and daisies.
