At the time large trucks filled with luscious, ripe grapes rolled along the roads leaving behind whiffs of grape aromas. Needless to say the grapes were not all wine grapes but many were of the Concord and Niagara varieties for commercial juice. We drove along the roads with our windows down enjoying the aromas.<\/p>\n<p>While in North East we also discovered several wineries also producing traditional wines.<\/p>\n<p>All of these reminisces were brought back by the announcement of the <a href=\"https:\/\/nechamber.org\/about-winefest\/\">2018 Wine Country Harvest Festival<\/a>. This year the Winefest is this weekend from September 28 to September 30. The festival takes place at two parks, Gibson Park and Gravel Pit Park.<\/p>\n<p>Events and activities include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>100 different wines to sample<\/li>\n<li>Many entertainers<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/nechamber.org\/stomp-off-competition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Grape stomp-off competition<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Crafts people<\/li>\n<li>Exhibitors<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"attachment_15995\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-15995\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-15995\" src=\"http:\/\/winetrailtraveler.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/pennshore1-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"http:\/\/winetrailtraveler.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/pennshore1-300x168.jpg 300w, http:\/\/winetrailtraveler.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/pennshore1.jpg 324w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-15995\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Penn Shore Winery<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Wineries participating in the WineFest include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>6 Mile Wine Cellars<\/li>\n<li>Arrowhead Wine Cellars<\/li>\n<li>Arundel Cellars &amp; Brewing Company<\/li>\n<li>Burch Farms Winery<\/li>\n<li>Courtyard Wineries<\/li>\n<li>Heritage Wine Cellars<\/li>\n<li>Mazza Vineyards<\/li>\n<li>Penn Shore Vineyards<\/li>\n<li>Presque Isle Wine Cellars<\/li>\n<li>South Shore Wine Company<\/li>\n<li>Yori Wine Cellars<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>While visiting the this area of Pennsylvania we enjoyed visiting five of the wineries.
