After visiting the country Georgia twice, we have fond memories of the Georgian people, history, culture and qvevri wines and so much more.<\/p>\n

At the time of our visits Georgia offered little assistance for \u201cvulnerable\u201d people. One of the many striking memories we have is of a private enterprise established by an architect who established a “home” for vulnerable people including the very young and old. By the time of our visit, Temi<\/a> included a dormitory for residents, an immense greenhouse, vineyards and a marani (wine cellar) with 12 qvevri. We met several of the people who are receiving the care and assistance they need and also providing for themselves. It was an inspiring visit to see so many working together for a common goal of helping each other.<\/p>\n

Temi is located in the Kakheti region of Georgia.<\/p>\n

I began thinking about Temi and Georgia\u2019s vulnerable people when I read an email about a Spring Charity Gala<\/i><\/b> taking place in Tbilisi on Saturday, March 30. This special fundraiser is sponsored by the American Friends of Georgia<\/a>. The Gala will take place at the Sheraton Grand Metechi Palace.<\/p>\n

The Spring Charity Gala includes a cocktail reception, live auction, dancing, a \u00a0raffle and the Chef\u2019s creations.<\/p>\n

While many of our readers will not be able to attend the event in Tbilisi, donations are also being accepted. Examples include sponsoring a chair for $100 or 10 chairs at a table in your name for $1,000.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the email I received,\u00a0 “<\/span>The funds raised from this Charity Gala will help us a great deal in our humanitarian efforts for vulnerable childr<\/b>en and elderly in Georgia<\/b>.\u00a0AFG is at the forefront of this humanitarian response but we need your engagement and support to be successful!\u201d<\/p>\n
