The area around the lake to home to tourist spots, traditional homes and not far away are wineries.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0A ferry provides easy transportation across the lake.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The first visit of the day was at Garamv\u00e1ri where we met one of the owners and the winemaker. Garamv\u00e1ri was established 25 years ago. Today the winery, an 85 hectare estate, produces sparkling and still wines. The temperatures of the vineyards are moderated by Lake Balaton.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>We then enjoyed lunch at Kist\u00fccs\u00f6k, a restaurant owned by a brother and sister. The restaurant menu offers a variety of Hungarian foods. The atmosphere is friendly with touches of low-key elegance including fabric tablecloths. After lunch we reached the far side of Lake Balaton by a short ferry ride.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_16572\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/winetrailtraveler.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/040319b.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-16572\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-16572\" src=\"http:\/\/winetrailtraveler.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/040319b-300x197.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"197\" srcset=\"http:\/\/winetrailtraveler.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/040319b-300x197.jpg 300w, http:\/\/winetrailtraveler.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/040319b.jpg 329w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-16572\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Weeping vines at J\u00e1sdi Wine Estate<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Our next winery stop was J\u00e1sdi wine estate which included tasting wines. We learned that the vineyards were once owned by the Bishop Ranolder of Veszpr\u00e9m.\u00a0Istv\u00e1n J\u00e1sdi bought the property in 1998. Today J\u00e1sdi is producing more than 100,000<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>bottles. As we closely observed the vineyards, we noticed the vines beginning to weep.<\/p>\n<p>We enjoyed dinner at the Bock Restaurant.
