The vineyards feature five Bordeaux varieties including Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot and Petit Verdot.<\/p>\n<p>In a recent press release, Mike Spratt owner and winemaker at Destiny Bay, announced that Gerard Bassett &#8220;reserved special praise for the Magna Praemia blend stating that in a blind tasting he would have identified the 2006 as an elegant Left Bank Bordeaux, the 2007 as a fine First Growth Bordeaux and the 2008 as a top Super Tuscan.&#8221; This was fine praise indeed!<\/p>\n<p>Gerard Basset is well known in the wine world having qualified as a Master of Wine, Master Sommelier and MBA. Basset has also won many sommelier awards. With such qualifications he is also Worldwide Vice President at the Court of Master Sommeliers.<\/p>\n<p>Destiny Bay Vineyards is open only by appointment.
