Kathy<\/p>\n<table cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Merlot Cherries<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I<strong>ngredients<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>2\u00a0c Chinook Merlot<br \/>\n1\u00a0c sugar<br \/>\n1 cinnamon stick<br \/>\nPeel of 1 medium lemon<br \/>\nJuice of \u00bd medium lemon<br \/>\n2 T brandy or cognac<br \/>\n2 lbs red cherries, pitted<\/p>\n<p><strong>Directions<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Combine all ingredients except the cherries in a small saucepan and simmer for 20 minutes.\u00a0 Cool.<\/li>\n<li>Macerate cherries for \u00bd hour to 2 hours in the cooled syrup, turning several times.<\/li>\n<li>Serve with a dab of whipped cream or cr\u00e8me fraiche.
