Mr. Asimov suggested that wine writers change the way they write about wine. Don\u2019t use terms such as \u201chints\u201d or \u201cnuances.\u201d So at the time, when challenged to be creative, I decided to write haiku instead of a more traditional wine description. My first discovery was that the restriction of using 17 syllables works perfectly for writing about a wine on Twitter. After writing one or two haikus, I was able to speed up and write quicker.<\/p>\n<p>At last evening\u2019s dinner, we tried a few wines from Umbria.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2010 Corbora PodereIl Caio\u00a0<\/strong> <em>haiku<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Umbrian white wine<br \/>\nMalvasia, Grechetto<br \/>\nGrassy, lemony finish<\/p>\n<p><strong>2008 Elicius Umbria Rosso<\/strong>\u00a0 <em>haiku<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Elicius Rosso<br \/>\nLeather, licorice, dark fruit<br \/>\nTannins, crisp finish<\/p>\n<p><strong>2007 Marciliano Falesco<\/strong>\u00a0 <em>haiku<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Marciliano<br \/>\nFruity, leather, licorice<br \/>\nSilky tannin wine<\/p>\n<p><strong>2007 Palazone Muffa Nobilis<\/strong>\u00a0 <em>haiku<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Golden dessert wine<br \/>\nHoneysuckle floral hints<br \/>\nFlowers in the mouth<\/p>\n<p>Oops, I did manage to get the word \u201chints\u201d in one of the haikus.
