{"id":6847,"date":"2012-09-20T00:03:52","date_gmt":"2012-09-20T05:03:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/winetrailtraveler.com\/blog\/?p=6847"},"modified":"2012-09-20T07:08:05","modified_gmt":"2012-09-20T12:08:05","slug":"matpra-2012-journalists-in-bethlehem-pennsylvania","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/winetrailtraveler.com\/blog\/2012\/09\/20\/matpra-2012-journalists-in-bethlehem-pennsylvania\/","title":{"rendered":"MATPRA 2012: Journalists in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Wednesday, the MATPRA Media Marketplace began with a substantial breakfast at <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hotelbethlehem.com\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Hotel Bethlehem<\/span><\/a><\/span> with everyone attending being welcomed to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Breakfast was followed by the Market Place where we met many representatives for tourism organizations from the Mid-Atlantic States. Several of them were quick to offer suggestions of other wineries to visit.<\/p>\n<p>For lunch we boarded buses to take us to the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artsquest.org\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">ArtsQuest<\/span><\/a><\/span> \u201cCenter at SteelStacks\u201d for lunch. This is a combination of an artsy music event location connected with the history of Bethlehem Steel. The backdrop for many musical events is the view of the old Bethlehem Steel plant. I plan to write a more comprehensive article about this soon because it is a wonderful concept for rejuvenating industrial sites that have become eyesores.<\/p>\n<p>Terry\u2019s bus group took a short ride on the canal, visited the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.canals.org\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">National Canal Museum<\/span><\/a><\/span> and the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/sigalmuseum.org\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Sigal Museum<\/span><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>After lunch my group went to the location of the Moravian settlement and toured the numerous historic buildings on site. At one time this settlement was a self-sufficient community. The community included: a blacksmith shop, tannery, housing, apothecary and more.<\/p>\n<p>The evening finished with a dine-a-round. We were assigned to the <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.edgerestaurant.net\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Edge Restaurant<\/span><\/a><\/span> for appetizers where we enjoyed wine with pizza bites, fresh salad and calamari. For dinner we discovered <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.donegalsquare.com\/mysitecaddy\/site3\/mccarthys.htm\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">McCarthy\u2019s Tea Room<\/span><\/a><\/span> in a room at the back of an Irish shop where we enjoyed a choice of Steak and Ale Pie, Curried Vegetable Pastie, or Roasted Chicken Breast with Cider Sauce.
