Conferences
There are many roads to gaining wine knowledge. One of those avenues is attending conferences. Generally conferences enhance wine education from different sources. Conference presenters often have information that is new to many. Having conversations with other attendees leads to other learning opportunities. At many conferences, sponsors and the trade offer more opportunities to learn about and sample products.
As Wine Trail Traveler continues covering conferences, this section of learning opportunities will expand.
The Drink Local Wine Conference stresses the importance of the drink local movement. Conferences are held yearly in the Spring. Thus far conferences have been held in Texas, Virginia and Missouri. The 2012 conference will be held in Colorado. Attendees can expect to learn about the local wines in the state that has the conference and attendees will sample wines from that state and meet several winegrowers and winemakers from the conference state. Wine Trail Traveler attended the 2009 conference in Dallas, Texas and the 2010 conference in Northern, Virginia.
If you have a wine blog you may be interested in attending the National Wine Bloggers Conference. Held during the summer, previous conferences have taken place in California and Washington. The 2011 conference will be held in Virginia. Conference attendees can listen to presentations, sample wines and tours local wineries. Wine Trail Traveler will attend the 2011 conference held in Charlottesville, Virginia.
The International Wine Tourism Conference brings together wine and travel professionals from around the world to discuss, reflect and develop ideas about wine and culinary tourism. Attendees can attend presentations and workshops. They also experience the local wine and cuisine. Wine Trail Traveler will attend the 2012 conference held in Perugia, Umbria, Italy during the winter.
Wineries Unlimited Trade Show and Conference is the largest winegrower and winemaker conference on the East Coast. The conference offers multiple sessions on winemaking, winegrowing and marketing. The trade show has a large selection of vendors. One can learn about new products for the vineyard, winery and tasting room. Wine Trail Traveler attended the trade show in King of Prussia, Pennsylvanin during 2010 and attended the conference and trade show in 2011 held in Richmond, Virginia.
