Delaware
The Delaware wine industry began in 1991 when the state legislature passed a law permitting farm wineries. As of 2008, however, Delaware has only two wineries. The sandy soil is similiar to the soil on Long Island. Grapes develop deep tap roots and produce good crops even in the driest growing conditions.
