The Piedmont, “foot of the mountain,” area of North Carolina is in the central area of North Carolina between the Coastal Plain and the Appalachian Mountains. Located within the Piedmont area of North Carolina are several wineries focusing on vitis vinifera grapes. Visitors will find wineries ranging from the tiny, boutique winery to the large facility winery. This itinerary offers five wineries and two possible inns for lodging. The travel distance for the itinerary is 74 miles and travel time is approximately two and one-half hours.
