Anyone who uses Amazon knows that they sell a whole lot more than books. Whether you need household items, lawn and garden equipment or toys, Amazon seems to have it all. About the only thing they could not sell was wine. Previously they were stopped by the myriad of different regulations around the country.
Finally, Amazon has succeeded in bringing wine to people. Unfortunately there are many restrictions including only residents of a limited number of states can have wine shipped to them. Currently residents in 12 states and the District of Columbia can receive wine through Amazon. Available wines are from California, Oregon and Washington.
The list includes
- California
- Connecticut
- District of Columbia
- Florida
- Iowa
- Idaho
- Illinois
- North Carolina
- Nebraska
- Nevada
- Oregon
- Washington
- Wyoming
The Amazon Wine website is http://www.amazon.com/b/ref=sd_allcat_wine?ie=UTF8&node=2983386011
On the side of the wine page, Amazon has several filters available to help consumers quickly choose a wine. Selections include the type of wine, grape variety, winery location, taste notes, brand, price and more.
The majority of wines are between $10 and $50. A few are below ten and of course there are numerous wines over $50.
Shipping costs of wine is always a concern. Currently Amazon is offering to ship wine for $9.99 for one bottle up to six bottles. That’s a stiff price for the shipping of one bottle of wine; however, for six bottles that is very reasonable. While visiting wineries we have heard that shipping for a case of wine reaches well over $30.
Will I purchase wine through Amazon? Perhaps on occasion but my preference is to discover and visit wineries to find the wines I enjoy.
Will you buy wine from Amazon Wine?
