The Charity World Wine Tour for 2010

Anja Cheriakova and Georges Janssens will be completing their charity World Wine Tour in 2010. They hope to visit 17 wine countries around the world and send home, for a charity auction, 300 bottles of wine each donated by a winery they visit. To discover more about World Wine Tours 2020 visit the website http://www.worldwinetour2010.com/about.html.

The wines collected during the tour will be auctioned in the spring of 2011 in Napa Valley. Online bidding will also be allowed. The charity proceeds will be donated to the Laos Rehabilitation Foundation Inc (LRF). According to the LRF website, activities of the LRF include “…building health care clinics in remote areas of Laos, to performing medical missions diagnosing and treating hundreds of patients, to improving sanitation conditions at centers for handicapped children.”

It was in 2003 that the concept of ‘Vignes sans Frontieres’ (Vines without Borders) was developed by a French couple. They completed their tour in 2004. Since then several other couples have undertaken similar goals while expanding and modifying the concept. This year’s “Charity Wine Tour” will be the fifth tour since 2004.

Cheers! Kathy
