Temecula Valley in sunny southern California has a young winery Masía de Yabar. The winery is opening a tasting room in Old Town Temecula this month. Look for wines and tapas at the tasting room – “Home of the Spanish Wines & Tapas.”
The vineyards and La Masía, a manor house, are located in Temecula Valley. The winery’s website explains the term La Masía. “In a sense, they were self contained economic centers which included living quarters for the extended families, shelter for farm animals, as well as black smith facilities to manufacture items needed for the ranch. In modern times The Masía connotes the good life where everyone is welcome!”
The owner, originally from Perú has Spanish ancestors. He learned winemaking skills in Argentina. The wines produced by Masía de Yabar include Grenache Blanc, Viognier, Muscat Canelli, Garnacha, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Tempranillo, Zinfandel, Monastrell and Malbec.
Events at Masía de Yabar include Friday and Saturday music and now Spanish Sangria with a Peruvian Flare is available for purchase. Check out the Argentinean Asado BBQ on Saturday, August 7.
