Wine Reduction Sauce
The goal of a sauce like this is to take a good wine and make it thicker by reducing the amount of water, thereby having an intense flavor. Use a full-bodied wine like DelMonaco Blackberry Wine.
Ingredients
2 cups full-bodied wine, like DelMonaco Blackberry Wine
1-2 T Butter
Directions
- Put 2 cups of wine in a shallow sauce pan over medium-low heat for about 20-30 minutes. Do not let the wine boil. Let it reduce by about 2/3 of the original amount. At this point you should notice a much thicker wine.
- Turn off the heat, add 1-2 tablespoons of cold butter, and whisk it into the wine.
Serving Suggestions
Serve over steak or vegetables.
You may choose to serve this with fresh fruits as well. Dice the fruit and toss in when the wine has thickened. Mix just before serving.
