Thanksgiving Day Wines

Thanksgiving Wines

For many people in the US, Thanksgiving Day is a holiday to look forward to with a sumptuous feast. Are you planning a full traditional roasted turkey dinner including succulent roasted turkey with mashed potatoes? If you don’t like to peel potatoes check out the recipe Rachel Ray suggested with mashed potatoes made with the skins. Think about the cranberries, winter squash, sweet potatoes and salads.

Now you need to decide the beverage to serve. Suggestions include placing bottles of red and white wine on the table. I would add a bottle of sparkling wine or Champagne to the table. Over the weekend, we enjoyed a bottle of sparkling wine. It was produced by Jaillance. This particular wine was blended with Muscat and a less familiar grape called Clairette. This sparkling wine was delightful by itself with its orange blossom nuances but could be equally enjoyed with dinner. In addition to these traditional wines, look for specialty wines including wines made with cranberries or perhaps even pumpkin. Enjoy searching for Thanksgiving wines.

Now there is time to visit a winery, taste wines and decide which wines you would like to serve your guests on Thanksgiving Day. If you don’t live near a winery tasting room then visit a wine shop near you. Many wine shops have knowledgeable staffs who will be happy to help you with your wine choices. Better yet some wine shops offer a select number of wines to taste.

Enjoy searching for Thanksgiving wines. Thanksgiving is a day to celebrate with family and friends.

Cheers, Kathy
