Annual New Zealand Wine Day

In February, 21 New Zealand wineries belonging to the Complexity group, are celebrating Waitangi Day with the 2nd Annual New Zealand Wine Day on Saturday, February 4.  Wine enthusiasts around the world can take part in this wine tasting by doing a virtual tasting.

This event is in coordination with Wine Channel TV. The virtual wine tasting includes a cooking demonstration. To register or learn more, visit http://nzwineday2012.eventbrite.com. When tweeting, use the hash tag #nzwineday

The wines included in the tasting are from eight New Zealand regions including Auckland, Hawkes Bay, Marlborough and Waipara. Wine Trail Traveler traveled to New Zealand in 2010 and visited several of these wineries. Small or large the New Zealand wineries and their wines are impressive. Visit the New Zealand section on Wine Trail Traveler for more information.

About Waitangi Day

Waitangi Day is a New Zealand national holiday, which is celebrated on Monday, February 6.
Waitangi Day was established in the 1930’s to commemorate the signing of a treaty between the British Crown and Maori chiefs. The treaty signed in 1840 is one of the important documents in the establishment of New Zealand.
