Ameritage from Virginia for Drink Local Wine Week

Oak Wine Barrel at Pearmund Cellars

To begin Drink Local Wine Week, last night we enjoyed a Bordeaux-like wine produced by Pearmund Cellars in Broad Run, Virginia. The wine, Ameritage 2007 has aged well and offered a full body with dark fruit notes. The wine was produced with five grape varietals including Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petite Verdot, Malbec and Merlot.

Pearmund Cellars in Northern Virginia is not far from the nation’s capital. Wine enthusiasts from the District of Columbia and Virginia have easy access to a wonderful winery. Visit the winery and enjoy the ambiance of the lovely patio with views of the vineyards.

If you are fortunate you may meet Chris Pearmund, a wine connoisseur and supporter of the local wine industry.

Pearmund Cellars is the sister winery of Vint Hill Craft Winery where wine enthusiasts can produce their own barrel of wine with professional equipment and a winemaker. Both wineries are mentioned in our just released book, A Wine Journey.

Cheers, Kathy
