Distillery Lane Ciderworks is located in the bucolic countryside of Maryland. The facility has acres of apples and produces hard cider and fresh cider. It is located in a small building amid farm buildings with acres of apple orchards. The property currently has 3,000 apple trees that include 45 different varieties including numerous cider apples. The DLC website provides detailed information about the apple varieties.
Earlier this week we enjoyed a Hard Cider from DLC. With eight percent alcohol, the cider’s aroma and taste was thoroughly like fresh apples. The unfiltered cider was a light gold color. It reminded us of old world apples.
Distillery Lane Ciderworks is a unique facility. In addition to producing fresh ciders and hard ciders, they also offer classes during the off-season. One of our family members took one of the classes and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The fee includes the three-hour class, tastings and the materials to make a case of hard cider at home.
