For 11 years, New Zealand has offered an International Aroma Wine Competition. The Aroma Wine Competition focuses on the wine varieties that are considered aromatic. Wine varieties eligible for the competition include Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer, Muscat, Verdeldo, Sauvignon Gris, Viognier and Arneis. The purpose of the competition is to focus attention on the best commercially made wines available.

The award winning wines will be displayed as part of the Canterbury A&P Show. The submitted wines will be judged on October 12 and October 13.

The Canterbury A&P Show takes place from November 13 to November 15. Tickets for the Canterbury A&P Show are available online and at the gate. The popular Canterbury A&P Show began in 1863. Today the show attracts 100,000 visitors.
