Maryland’s Winter Wine Event Update

Maryland Winter Wine event location: B&O Railroad Museum

Don’t miss one of Maryland’s best kept secrets taking place this coming Thursday, January 26 at the B & O Railroad Museum in Baltimore. The annual Maryland Winter Wine Festival is a delightful way for wine enthusiasts to ward off the late cold and dreary days of January.

stylish event so plan to dress up. You will be dazzled by the location of the main wine tasting taking place in the roundhouse of the museum. The wines, yummy appetizers and desserts, conversation and music all add to the magic of the night.

Taste wine and talk with winemakers

Maryland wineries are producing numerous types of wines and guests will have the opportunity to taste varieties such as: Albariño, Chardonnay, Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc, Barbera, Syrah, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Norton.

Five dessert wines will be poured. Orchid Cellar Meadery and Winery will offer Mazer and Hunter. Big Cork Vineyards will pour Black Cap Port. Port of Leonardtown Winery will offer The PORT of Leonardtown and Thanksgiving Farm Winery will pour their Petit Verdot Dessert Wine.

Al Spoler from WYPR is the guest curator. Music will be provided by David Bach, a jazz musician.

A sparkling wine pre-reception occurs before the main wine tasting with traditional and non-traditional sparkling wines. This portion of the Winter Wine Showcase takes place from 6pm to 7pm. A limited number of tickets are available for the Pre-Reception. Crow Vineyard & Winery, Elk Run Vineyards, Great Shoals Winery, Knob Hall Winery and Old Westminster Winery will participate with their sparkling wines.

Tickets that include the pre-reception and the main tasting are $70. The tickets for only the main Roundhouse tasting are $55. Event information is available online.
