Summerfield 2009 Chardonnay

This is the first time I had this Chardonnay on a Continental flight. It was a pale yellow color and had a citrus and tropical fruit aroma and taste. The crisp finish was fruity and had apple and pear nuances on the aftertaste. The wine was paired with a shrimp salad  (six shrimp and salad greens), mushroom leek soup and a fruit bowl. The wine matched well with the salad giving it some tropical fruit nuances. It contrasted with the earthiness of the mushroom leek soup. Actually it became palate cleansing after tasting the soup. It went hand in hand with the tropical fruit. This Chardonnay is fruit forward and was refreshing for lunch. It is an inexpensive Chardonnay that many may find appealing.

Cheers,
Terry
