Wiens 2003 Zinfandel
The wine was a dark purple color with a jammy black fruit aroma. Jammy black fruit and baking spices (cinnamon and cloves) were on the taste. The finish had mild to medium tannins with fruit yelding to spices. The baking spices yielded to black pepper on the aftertaste. The wine can be paired with red meats, pork or pasta with red sauce.
Grapes used to make this 14.6% alcohol wine were from Lodi. ?The wine was released in the fall of 2007.
Doffo 2008 Zinfandel
This unfiltered wine had a dark purple to black color. Their were dark fruits especially raspberries on the aroma and plum and black raspberries on the taste. Medium tannins were acompanied by the fruity finish. Of the many Southern California Zinfandels tasted, this was my favorite. Winemaker, Marcelo Doffo passion for winemaking went into this wine.
