Upcoming Virtual Wine Events on Twitter

If you haven’t participated in a Twitter wine event, over the next few weeks you’ll have a few possibilities. These events are simple. You can register for the event if you wish, however, you can participate whether you register or not. Wine events have a hashtag associated with them. You can follow the hashtag on Twitter or other application such as TweetDeck. You’ll notice that people from around the world will tweet using the hashtag prior to the event as well as after the event. During the day of the event, wine enthusiasts from all over will tweet about the featured wine of the event.

Upcoming events include Pinot Noir, Tempranillo and Cabernet. The Pinot Noir Smackdown is a wine event that takes place on Thursday, August 18th. Follow and use the hashtag #PinotSmackdown. People are also encouraged to add a two-letter hashtag for the state or country of the Pinot they are drinking. Organizers of the Pinot Noir Smackdown will keep track of the tweets and announce what state or country had the most tweets posted about Pinot in their area. September 1st will be a busy day with two Twitter wine events including #CabernetDay and the first International Tempranillo Day, #TempranilloDay. Cabernet fans can tweet about Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. There may even be a tweet or two about Ruby Cabernet.

If you wish to register, you’ll receive notifications of future wine events. Registration is free. Register for the Pinot Noir Smackdown event, Cabernet Day event, and Tempranillo Day event.

Cheers,
Terry
