How Did Your Wine Journey Begin?

For the past few weeks Terry and I have been discussing how we became wine enthusiasts and why we started the Wine Trail Traveler website. Part of this self- inquiry was the result of being encouraged to write a book. We wrote a detailed outline and started writing.

As we look back at the past, we contemplate how and why we began Wine Trail Traveler, LLC. We haven’t always been wine drinkers, wine enthusiasts or wine lovers. A series of small steps took us on a long journey. We discovered that winery tasting rooms are fun but with an ambiance that makes one want to return again and again.  We found wine to be delightful and enhance dinners. It wasn’t long before we learned the fascinating history behind wine. Fortunately with some extra time, we were able to delve into the mysteries of wine that the ancients have known of for eons. Another wine enthusiast came upon wine almost by chance, with a dinner and a glass of rose wine. That led to a discovery of having a steak with a wine and increasingly the wines he enjoyed became what some like to call serious wines.

Wine drew us to it not only because of its taste but because of the people we have met in the wine industry including the owners, winemakers and vineyard managers. Despite the hard work, undependable weather and friendly competition, a very high percentage are very happy with what they are doing. By extension, the wines they create tell a story. By visiting a winery and asking questions you will learn the story and most likely want to return again and again.
