ViniPortugal Promotes Portuguese Wines in the US

With more American consumers drinking wine there is an opportunity for other countries to introduce their wines to the American population. ViniPortugal, an association promoting Portuguese wines around the world, announced a campaign designed to promote wines from Portugal in the United States. The campaign will include events, education and digital and social media targeted toward consumers, the press and the wine trade. Wine enthusiasts in New York, Miami and San Francisco should look for opportunities to become familiar with Portuguese wines. Some initiatives will also take place in Washington D.C. and Chicago.

The wines of Portugal go beyond Port. There are white varieties that may be new to many Americans including: Alvarinho, Encruzado, Loureiro and Malvasia Fina just to name a few. Red varieties include: Alfrocheiro, Jaen, Moreto and Tinta Barroca, again just to name a few. To learn about wines from Portugal, visit the Wines of Portugal website. The next time you are in a wine shop, check to see if they carry a Portuguese wine and give it a try.

Cheers,
Terry
