WineFest in Pennsylvania’s North East is this Weekend

South Shore Wine Company

The first time we traveled in Pennsylvania’s North East region (in the northwestern part of the state along Lake Erie) it was early Fall when grapes were ripe and just hanging, awaiting the harvest. At the time large trucks filled with luscious, ripe grapes rolled along the roads leaving behind whiffs of grape aromas. Needless to say the grapes were not all wine grapes but many were of the Concord and Niagara varieties for commercial juice. We drove along the roads with our windows down enjoying the aromas.

While in North East we also discovered several wineries also producing traditional wines.

All of these reminisces were brought back by the announcement of the 2018 Wine Country Harvest Festival. This year the Winefest is this weekend from September 28 to September 30. The festival takes place at two parks, Gibson Park and Gravel Pit Park.

Events and activities include:

Penn Shore Winery

Wineries participating in the WineFest include:

  • 6 Mile Wine Cellars
  • Arrowhead Wine Cellars
  • Arundel Cellars & Brewing Company
  • Burch Farms Winery
  • Courtyard Wineries
  • Heritage Wine Cellars
  • Mazza Vineyards
  • Penn Shore Vineyards
  • Presque Isle Wine Cellars
  • South Shore Wine Company
  • Yori Wine Cellars

While visiting the this area of Pennsylvania we enjoyed visiting five of the wineries. We certainly want to go back and visit more of the wineries located in Pennslvania’s North East region. Articles and photos about the wineries we visited are available online.

Cheers!
Kathy
