We are looking forward to meeting people and renewing previous acquaintances at the Wine Pleasures FAM trip for bloggers and media taking place later this month in Italy. We first met Tom Plant at a winery media event in Temecula, California. Tom was also present at another media event at another Temecula winery as well as the 2011 Wine Bloggers’ Conference in Charlottesville, Virginia. What first impressed us with Tom was his photography equipment. He carries an expensive-looking camera and flash unit that takes wonderful pictures. But photography is only one of Tom’s passions. The other is wine tourism.
Tom and his wife, Laura, own the wine blog WINEormous and the Temecula based wine tour company Temecula Wine Tours. We took a tour of Temecula wineries with Tom in the fall of 2010. Since we had already visited many of the wineries in Temecula, we presented Tom with a challenge, where to take us that we hadn’t visited thus far. It didn’t take him long to develop an itinerary. We visited four wineries in the region that we hadn’t previously visited. At each of the wineries, Tom had us talk with the owner or winemaker. During our time with Tom, we talked about wine, a subject that can be discussed for hours if not days and weeks.
It will be fun to experience wineries in Umbria and Campagna with the FAM group of bloggers and media. Perhaps I can pick up some photography tips from Tom Plant.
