In the photo below the vineyard weeping does not correspond to our feelings on the day after taxes are due. Rather it is a sign of renewal and life about to spring forth. The last time our IWINETC blogger/media FAM group were all together, the February snows had made their way to Campania and whitened the vineyards with fluffy cool stuff. We wonder how many of those vineyards are now weeping.
Today marks a day that our blogger/media FAM group can spend some time tweeting each other and discussing some wine. Kathy and I are going to go Texan and enjoy some of Merrill’s and Paul’s Messina Hof wines. We plan to pair the 2009 Merlot and 2009 Cabernet Franc with some light snacks. The 2011 Late Harvest Moscato Mistella we’ll enjoy by itself. We’ll have to use our Port sippers for the 2005 Papa Paulo Port, our after dinner drink. We picked up the Port sippers on our first trip to Texas a few years ago.
Not trying to make anyone weep here other than vines, but the day also marks the day that our niece, Kathy, who has been battling leukemia will stay at our house for awhile. We are close to the hospital and they are allowing her to go to a relative’s home within a hour of the hospital. Northern Virginia is too far away for her to go to her home. Our niece enjoys wine and hopefully she’ll be able to smell and taste a little of the Messina Hof wines. Kathy’s mother and/or her husband will be with us and they enjoy wine also.
Happy blogger/media FAM group Twitter day.
Cheers
Terry
