Father’s Day Bash

Yesterday turned out to be an awesome day. The weather was perfect as we celebrated Father’s Day with a Father’s Day Bash at one of my niece’s that included a long list of extended family members. There were sisters, brothers, moms, fathers and many, many children.

I started with a margarita, actually two. They were perfect for sipping as we visited with others who we had not seen for a long time. Eventually Terry did a wine tasting with wines we have discovered on the East Coast. Many of those who participated indicated that they prefer the traditional grape wines but they were quite willing to taste the fruit wines. (This sentiment contrasted with many winemakers and winery owners acknowledge that the public is buying more sweet wines than dry wines.)

Many delicious appetizers and entrées were available including barbecued pork, chicken, potato salad, beans, chard, salads and desserts. There were three delicious cakes to choose between and for those who couldn’t make a choice and claimed they didn’t what to hurt anyone’s feeling by eating only one slice, they were served three slices. Cakes included a spice carrot cake, Red Raspberry Wine Cake and a Blackberry Wine Cake. Fruit wine cakes are delicious and incredibly easy to make. If you have a bottle of fruit wine in your cellar, consider using it for a cake.

We had a great day and hope you did also.

Cheers! Kathy
