New Wine Festival 2014

As many of my family and friends realize, the country Georgia remains close to my heart even though I am thousands of miles away. It is great to use Facebook to keep in contact with the Georgians we have met over the past year. Many Georgians use Facebook. Today I discovered that a festival is taking place in Tbilisi on May 24.

An Ohio Book Talk about Georgia, Sakartvelo: the Birthplace of Wine

I had another opportunity to tell people about the country Georgia, the birthplace of wine, while presenting a couple book talks at Brunings Wine Cellars and Accessories in Beavercreek, Ohio. Several media members already left as well as tour operators; however, there were still enough members left that attended the International Wine Tourism Conference a few days earlier. Georgians know […]

Birthday Celebration Continues 10,461 km Away

Sometimes it’s hard to celebrate a birthday away from friends and family. That may even be sadder if you are 10,461 km (6,500 miles) away from home. That is unless you are in Sakartvelo, the country Georgia. Here, visitors are treated as guests. This is our second visit and we are treated like family. Unexpectedly […]

Virginia Cider Made in Georgian Qvevri Served at Supra in Tbilisi

Buried under the ground not far from a shade tree are several qvevris that were made in the country Georgia. These earthen vessels, for making wine, traveled 6,500 miles for their resting place at Castle Hill Cidery in Keswick, Virginia. Stuart Madany, production manager, was interested in making cider in qvevris. He had first become […]
