Lift Haus Winery offers a small boutique experience emphasizing Pinot Noir wines. In addition, the Evans family produces Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc. Vibrant green vineyards to the side of the tasting room thrive in the Hillier clay loam soil. The tasting room and winery are located in a renovated bungalow. The blue walls offer a sense of peace while tasting wines. The tasting counter is of golden-tone wood.
The vineyards, winery, and tasting room are located on Closson Road in Prince Edward County close to other wineries and makes the tasting room an excellent stop for anyone touring wineries in the region.
The Evans family who had previously operated a bed and breakfast and a restaurant purchased the current property in 2001. The winery is owned and operated by the Evans family who first planted Pinot Noir, one of their favorite grape varieties. In order to appeal to more wine enthusiasts, they added Chardonnay and Pinot Gris grape varieties to the vineyard. The Evans source Cabernet Franc grapes from within Prince Edward County.
Lift Haus Background
Frank and Bonnie Evans own the Cornelius White House B&B in Bloomfield. Today Bonnie continues to run the Bed and Breakfast. A son owned a restaurant but eventually sold it. In 2001, Frank and Bonnie along with their sons and their wives, Edward and Kelly Evans and Kyle and Eva Evans started Lift Haus Winery. The name Lift refers to all of the hard work Edward and Kyle do in terms of lifting and moving involved in owning a winery and vineyard. Haus was used as a reflection of the time that Frank and Bonnie were stationed in Germany and Holland. Frank was in the Canadian military for 38 years.
