Chaddsford Winery is the largest of the wineries on the Brandywine Wine Trail. Producing thousands of gallons of wine, all of their production takes place onsite. Some of their grapes are grown at their vineyard about 25 miles away.
Other grapes are purchased from local vineyards. Interestingly we discovered, that in Pennsylvania there is a law that prevents wineries from purchasing grapes from more than 350 miles away.
As we approached the renovated 18th century barn, we walked up several steps to a large brick patio, which would be a delightful place to sit and enjoy a glass of wine – depending on the weather. Going up several more steps we entered the winery. We were greeted immediately and directed to a counter to pick up a wine glass. We were then offered a taste of Pinot Grigio. After answering several questions, we went past several displays of wine and entered the tasting room.
In the spacious and elegant room, a wine host invited us to try several wines. Our wine host was very knowledgeable about wine and answered our many questions. Chaddsford wine hosts attempt to guage your knowledge level about wine and taylor there discussion to meet your needs. Whether you enjoy dry wines or sweet wines, you will most likely find a wine you enjoy at Chaddsford Winery. Sweet wines are good sellers. Chaddsford Winery makes Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Chambourcin and more.
One of the unique features of Chaddsford Winery is the self-guided winery tour. With signs posted and stainless steel tanks to observe, one can get a brief but informative idea of all the work it takes to produce wine. Each of the signs are well labeled, large enough print to make reading easy, and educational. You can take your time in this area as there is no one to rush you.

We enjoyed the time we spent at each winery. The friendliness and ambience at each winery makes it a very enjoyable experience.
